Summer

It feels like summer because:
  1. Andrew and I have kayaked the past three Saturdays
  2. We have fresh veggies from the garden...really is anything more refreshing than a cucumber?
  3. I made yogurt pie (see blog archive)
  4. My A/C went out in my car tonight
Ok so all those aren't good things, but I'm really enjoying the first three. I should have known better to be happy that my car has been good to me and then the same day...oh well. It's still cool in the mornings so I'll survive.

Dogs hold the meaning of Life...jk

So I am once again trying to run in the mornings. Gage is my usually wonderful running partner, and this morning she did something to surprise me.  Usually I leash her while crossing the road to go to the woods and then tell her to stay until I cross the road and then invite her to come. She usually does this very well and I always have the leash in case I need it.  Well this am, we are waiting for a biker to pass, then another car, and then I see a car coming from the other direction and she takes off toward the house. I scream a piercing yelp and she darts back towards me. Honestly she would have made it without getting hit, but it terrified me.  It dawned on me that their is an analogy of this and us with God.  He knows what's coming and we just dart out without consulting him. I know there are differences because God would know how we would respond, but it must be sad that his kids aren't asking him for direction. Does this make any sense? I guess I was just really scared and then really frustrated with Gage. Then it hit me that I do this with God all the time.

New to us

We recently bought a new to us car, a 2009 Toyota Prius Hybrid. They get better than amazing gas mileage. This has been a huge blessing to us since Andrew has a long commute and drives a vehicle that's more for hauling and short trips than a long commute. Last night I drove it for the first time, and Andrew was like don't mess up my mpg and at first I thought he was being silly. As soon as I started driving I didn't care how fast I was going. It became a game to get the highest mpg. I know, it's silly. It really feels like you are playing a video game.

Another great thing about gardening

Another great thing about gardening is that God may bless your garden with a bumper crop of green beans. The first week they started producing (last week) I realized that I needed to can green beans because we had so many. I canned these green beans with my Mom on Sunday.

Super PUMPED!

Andrew and I have been talking about taking an epic trip to the Pacific Northwest in the early fall. I have been getting more and more excited and looking into details a lot lately. I've been getting very friendly with the mobile version of trip planning websites. Well it's official, I just booked our flights so we at least have a way to get out there, and come back home. Here's a picture of something we hope to see. I'm so pumped about it!
